The Farm
The Belvoir Estate comprises 16,000 acres, 12,000acres of which is crop able land, 2,000 acres of woodland and 2,000 acres of permanent grassland.
The Estate is divided into two categories, the ‘in-hand’ estate where all of the farming and other businesses are managed by Belvoir (2,000 acres of arable land and 1,000 acres of permanent grassland and 2,000 acres of woodland) and the ‘let’ estate comprises the remaining estate, of which the farming and other enterprises are rented by tenants.

The estate includes 2000 acres of woodland. From which 100tones of quality firewood is produced and sold each year, 400tones of woodchip is produced each year for the biomass burner that is about to be installed in the Castle to decrease the Castles carbon footprint and at the same time saving £70,000 a year on fuel, again with an emphasis on the castle becoming self-sufficient, making use of the natural recourses on the estate.
Quality oak, cherry, ash, sycamore, and yew are sold for commercial use, with a full replanting and management program in place to look to the future for all of the woodland and parkland at Belvoir.

Belvoir Cricket
The Belvoir Estate has a wonderful cricket club which welcomes new members and spectators. Belvoir Cricket Club plays its home games on the edge of the village of Knipton, within sight of Belvoir Castle. The club welcomes players of all ages and abilities. 2010 was a most successful season with record numbers of youngsters taking part and the 1st team gained promotion to The Nottingham Premier League for the first time. Belvoir, meaning beautiful view in French, dates back to Norman times. The English pronunciation 'Beaver' was built up over many centuries through the inability of Anglo-Saxons to master the French tongue.
Belvoir has been the ancestral home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland for one thousand years and is currently the family home of 11th Duke and Duchess and their five children. Read more...
