Belvoir Ark

Welcome to the Belvoir Ark page! One definition of a conservationist is someone who knows that “the world was not given by their ancestors but borrowed from their children”. As current stewards of the Belvoir Estate, we are following in the footsteps of our ancestors over the past thousand years. We are very aware of our responsibilities in preserving this land in the best way possible for future generations. The recent surge in environmental activism is a useful reminder for us all to do more.

Belvoir has over 16,000 acres of mixed farmland, woodland and aquatic habitats. We are very proud of the wide range of animal and plant species that visit, stay and breed here. Sadly, many of these species are threatened as a result of national and international climate change. We are committed to doing what we can for these wildlife species, to create an “Ark” if you like. Our aim is to protect them from increasingly turbulent weather conditions and other threats to their habitats.

We have many projects already underway, and an increasing list of possible future projects. If you have any ideas for possible projects for “The Belvoir Ark” or wish to get involved further, please do not hesitate to get in contact at [email protected]
