Mole
MOLE CONSERVATION STATUS: Least Concern
HABITAT: Moles spend most of their time underground under meadows, pastures, farmland and gardens/parks.
IMPORTANCE: Moles play an important role in soil health, by improving drainage and aeration with their digging and tunnel system. This prevents flooding and encourages plant growth.
THREAT: Moles have no real threats beyond persecution for being a pest.
FUN FACTS: Moles can survive in underground tunnels with less oxygen than us due to special adaptations in their red blood cells.
