Swing into vintage Britain with our 1940s Weekend

Let us transport you

You are cordially invited to join us for a weekend of vintage glamour with our 1940s Weekend on the 28th & 29th May. Our grounds will be transformed into the Belvoir Castle of wartime-era Britain with all the highlights of 1940s culture, from lively music to rich stories of its pivotal influence on British history.

What 1940s Belvoir Castle has in store

Organised with the whole family in mind, we’re delighted to offer a range of entertainment for all ages. Escape the hardships of the Second World War and jive along to our live performers, including dazzling swing bands and jazz singers, as well as playing some of the classic wartime records from Britain’s past.

Performers include the Kalamazoo Dance Band, Miss Charlotte Porter, Johnny Victory and Hattie Bee.

This captivating weekend celebrates all the highlights of the 1940s and brings them to life across the Castle’s cannonade and front lawn with living history encampments and re-enactors, as well as an impressive classic car show and a delectable afternoon tea to sweeten the occasion!

Make a day of it

While you’re enjoying the delights of our 1940s Weekend, you can also explore our 16,000-acre grounds and discover the Belvoir Castle State Rooms, as well as visiting the Engine Yard for a spot of lunch and shopping.

At the Engine Yard, you can browse a range of boutique stores including garden, clothing and homeware. It’s the ideal place to shop for gifts, whether you opt for a delicious treat from Cocoa Amore Chocolatiers, a stylish accessory from The Duchess Gallery collection, or a beautiful toy from Crafts 4 Kids.

After you’ve shopped to your heart’s content, enjoy a pit stop at The Fuel Tank Kitchen for a hearty lunch, or head to Balloon Bar for a refreshing cocktail or two.
