History of the Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea has a long and fascinating history at Belvoir Castle. Did you know Afternoon Tea was invented at Belvoir Castle? By Anna Russell, Duchess of Bedford whilst visiting the 5th Duke of Rutland at Belvoir Castle in the mid-1840s. Anna Russell, the Duchess of Bedford, started taking tea and light refreshments between lunch and dinner as a way of staving off hunger pangs.

- Dogs are welcome within our grounds however must be kept on a lead at all times. Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome within the Castle.

Terms and Conditions for Afternoon Tea Gift Vouchers:
Validity Period: The afternoon tea gift vouchers are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase.
Non-Transferrable: The vouchers are non-transferrable and can only be redeemed by the individual named on the voucher.
No Cash Exchange: The vouchers hold no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other form of currency.
Exclusion Dates: The vouchers are not valid for redemption during peak times, including but not limited to Mother’s Day Weekend, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday, and during the Festive Period.
Reservation Requirements: Reservations are recommended and subject to availability. Please book in advance to secure your preferred date and time.
Extension Policy: Requests for voucher extensions may be considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to approval. An extension fee may apply.
Allergies and Dietary Restrictions: Please inform the venue of any allergies or dietary restrictions at the time of booking to ensure suitable arrangements can be made.
