We are enormously privileged to be able to call Belvoir home. Dating back to 1067, the Belvoir Estate has been passed down through 36 successive generations, mostly through the male line but occasionally through the female line – hence the name change to Manners in our early history.
There are many treasures for you to enjoy at Belvoir, both inside and out. We’re especially proud of our new landscaped garden which was restored in 2016 from Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown’s 1780 original designs.
Our aim is to preserve and cherish Belvoir and everything within the Castle and estate to enable future generations to enjoy it for many more centuries to come.
We do hope you enjoy your visit to Belvoir.
As well as his custodian duties as Chairman at the Castle, the Duke has a keen interest in history. He is the co-author of Resolution, a 500 page book profiling two of his 18th-century ancestors – Charles and Robert Manners – which took four years to complete.
The Duchess is passionate about British traditions, heritage, craftsmanship, creativity and innovation. Currently working with exciting British brands, you can find out more about her chosen partners at the Duchess of Rutland site.
A selection of the best of British artisan goods will also be available to view and buy at the Duchess Gallery at the Engine Yard, which opened in the summer of 2018.
